Zopiclone 7.5mg Tablets are a kind of sleeping pills used in the treatment of sleep deprived patients. It is used in the treatment of insomnia and anxiety. This drug provides sound sleep by relaxing the nerves in the brain. It is sold with the brand names Imovane and Zimovane all over the world. It is also known as Zopicon in India.
How does it work?
Zopiclone 7.5mg Tablets Belongs to sedatives and hypnotics of non-benzodiazepines class. When the drug is administered into the body it acts on benzodiazepines and modulates GABA-A receptors and shows its action by relaxing the nerves and brain which results in sedation.
Dosage:
- Zopicon tablets are given depending on the patient’s condition which is why take them according to the doctor’s advice.
- Read out the patient information leaflet (PIL) or the tablet leaflet instructions carefully.
- The recommended dose is about 7.5 mg taken orally.
- For elderly people, the initial dose is adjusted to 3.5mg to avoid the risk of drug accumulation in the body.
- Do not crush, chew or break the tablet. It should be swallowed whole.
- The effect of the drug can be seen after 1 hour.
- It is short term treatment for about 2 to 4 weeks as this drug shows addictive properties.
Side effects:
- The common side effects of Zopiclone 7.5mg Tablets include metallic taste, feeling tired. If these symptoms don’t go away then immediately seek medical help.
- Drowsiness, stomach upset, headache, dry mouth are minor side effects that will disappear after your body adjusts to the drug.
- Irregular heartbeat, slurred speech, confusion, allergic reactions such as irritation, rashes etc., may also be developed due to intake of Zopicon drugs.
- Amnesia, hallucination, mood swings, depression are the rare side effects if occurs then immediately consult your physician.
Contraindications:
- Have a word with your doctor if you have any allergic reactions with the drug or with active constituents present in Zopiclone 7.5mg Tablets.
- Let your doctor know if you have any kidney disease so that he can alter or adjust the dose of the drug.
- If you have muscle weakness then consult your physician before taking this medication.
- Do not take Zimovane if you have any liver problems, sleep apnea, respiratory disorders as it may show various side effects.
- There are no clinical studies proven that this drug affects infants but consult your doctor if you are lactating mother before taking this drug.
- It is strictly avoided in pregnant women until necessary.
- Do not take Imovane if you have a habit of drinking because it makes you more sleepy and can cause harmful effects.
Do not drive after the intake of the Zopicon tablets as it makes you feel drowsy and you may fall asleep.
