Paroxetine 10mg, 20mg, 30mg, 40mg Tablets are Antidepressant agents. They are used to treat certain psychological disorders. Internationally, they are known by the names Paxil and Seroxat. In India, they are available by the name of Xet.

Purpose:

Paroxetine 10mg, 20mg, 30mg, 40mg Tablets are used to treat:

  • Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)
  • Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD)
  • Panic Disorder (PD)
  • Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD)
  • It is also used to improve your sleep, appetite, mood, and energy level and is also helpful in restoring your interest in daily life.

 

Mechanism:

Xet tablets maintain mental balance by increasing the levels of serotonin and noradrenaline (chemical messengers), which are natural substances of our brain.

 

Dosage:

  • Strictly as prescribed by your doctor.
  • For Major Depressive Disorder patients: The initial dose should be 25 mg and can be increased up to 62.5 mg.
  • For Social Anxiety Disorder patients: The initial dose should be 12.5 mg and can be increased up to 37.5 mg.
  • For Panic Disorder patients: The initial dose should be 12.5 mg and can be increased up to 75 mg.
  • For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder: Initial dose should be 12.5 mg and can be increased up to 25 mg. It can be consumed throughout the menstrual cycle.
  • A single dose of Paxil should be consumed in the morning, with or without food.
  • The increase in dosage should occur at a gap of one week.

 

Side effects:

  • Common side effects of Xet are diarrhea, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, drowsiness, constipation, or increased sweating.

  • Severe side effects of Paroxetine 10mg, 20mg, 30mg, 40mg Tablets are muscle spasms, influenza, tremors, somnolence, seizures, convulsions, hyperhidrosis, bruxism, abnormal dreams, orthostatic hypotension, peripheral coldness among others.

 

Precautions and measures:

  • Do not increase, decrease, or discontinue Xet tablets at your own ease.
  • Visit your doctor right away, if you develop a high fever or sore throat.
  • If you have had a personal or family medical history of bipolar disorder, glaucoma, kidney disease, liver disease, seizure disorder, abuse of alcohol, or high blood pressure, inform your doctor before starting with this medication.
  • If you develop suicidal thoughts, sudden mood changes, consult your doctor immediately.
  • Do not crush, break or split the Seroxat tablets.
  • Keep them away from kids and pets.
  • If you are a diabetes patient, keep a check on your blood sugar levels regularly, while being on the medication of Paroxetine 10mg, 20mg, 30mg, 40mg Tablets.

Prohibit the intake of alcohol and marijuana, as it may lead to extreme sleepiness and drowsiness.
