Purpose
Panitumumab 20mg per ml Injection in 5ml, 10ml, 20ml Vials are used for the
- treatment of wild-type KRAS called metastatic colorectal cancer.
- treatment of first-line therapy with a combination of FOLFOX.
- As treatment of monotherapy of disease progressions such as oxaliplatin, fluoropyrimidine, and irinotecan.
The medication comes under the brand name of Vectibix.
How does it work?
The medication works by inhibiting the growth of cancer cells in the host body. the active ingredients of Vectibix injection tend to bound with the cancer cells and hence stops their further growth.
Measures and precautions
- Panitumumab 20mg per ml Injection in 5ml, 10ml, 20ml Vials are prescribed by the doctor to treat the KRAS mutational status in colorectal cancer.
- The recommended dose of Vectibix injection is 6mg per kg which is intravenously infused in the host body.
- the infusion of the injection happens over 60 minutes every 14 days. The first infusion of Panitumumab 20mg per ml Injection in 5ml, 10ml, 20ml Vials is tolerated and then it is followed by subsequent doses over 30 to 60 minutes.
- The administration of doses higher than 1000 mg is done over 90 minutes.
- The infusion with Vectibix injection should be done under proper medical conditions. Appropriate medical resources should be present at the time of infusions.
- Do not try to overdose on the injection as it is extremely harmful.

storage
the medication infusion is stored at room temperature at a cool place. Do not try to freeze the medication. Use within 24 hours, if the injection is stored at 20C to 80C. avoid using expired vials as they are not good for the host body.
