Levonorgestrel + Ethinyl estradiol tablets available by brand names Triquilar Tablets is a contraceptive pill.

Uses:

Triquilar tablets are used as a contraceptive to prevent pregnancy. The medicine consists of two hormones namely estrogen and progestin. These tablets inhibit ovulation. It also works by making vaginal fluid thicker so that sperm do not reach an egg. It changes the uterus lining to avoid the attachment of fertilized egg.

In case sperm reach the egg, the fertilized egg do not get appropriate space in the uterus to get attached because of which it passes out from the body and avoids pregnancy. Thetablets also help in making your periods regular, decrease loss of blood and soothe cramps. It also reduces the risk of cyst in ovary.

 

Dosage:

Levonorgestrel + Ethinyl estradiol tablets should be taken as described on the blister. Starting from the day 1 of your menstrual cycle take one white (active) tablet every day on the same time for continuous 21 days following the arrow. These tablets should be followed by one green (inactive) tablet for other seven days. When the blister is finished start a new one in the same manner.

 

Side effects:

Side effects caused by Triquilar tablets are both major and minor. In case you experience any persisting and discomfortable symptom, consult your doctor.

• Inform your doctor if you are allergic to estrogens or progestins.
• If you have any history of breast cancer, tell your doctor.
• If you suffer from any eye problem such as low vision, tell your doctor
• Inform you doctor about your kidney, liver and heart diseases.
• If you have migraine, inform your doctor beforehand as Triquilar tablets can make the headache unbearable.
• If you are diabetic, your doctor needs to check your blood sugar as the drug affects the blood sugar level.
• If you suffer from pigmentation, the drug can elevate the symptom. Tell your doctor about your condition.
• If you are pregnant that this medicine is not recommended for you. Inform your doctor about your condition to avoid any harm to your unborn child. .
