Moclobemide 150mg, 300mg Tablets also known as Manerix and Aurorix tablets internationally are antidepressants used in the treatment of depression. It is also known as Trima in India. It is also used to treat any sleep disorders and anxiety.

How does it work?

Trima drugs are monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAIO). So, when the drug is administered into the body the drug acts by inhibiting reversible monoamine oxidase-A inhibitors resulting in the increased production of neurotransmitters in the brain such as Dopamine, Serotonin and shows its effects.

 

Dosage:

  • The dose of the Moclobemide 150mg, 300mg Tablets drug depends upon the condition of the patient and should be administered as prescribed by the physician.
  • Read out the instructions carefully present on the tablet leaflet or in the patient information leaflet (P.I.L).
  • The recommended dose of Manerix is 150mg which can exceed up to 300mg by doctors advice.
  • The drug is given through an oral route of administration and should be given after the intake of food.
  • The drug should not be chewed or crushed. It should be swallowed whole.
  • The effective response of the Trima drug is shown after 4 to 5 weeks.

 

Side effects:

  • The common side effects of the Moclobemide 150mg, 300mg Tablets drug includes nausea, vomiting, headache and drowsiness until your body adjusts to the medication.
  • Loss of appetite, sweating and blurred vision may be observed. If these symptoms become troublesome then please consult your doctor.
  • If angina pain, the fluttering of B.P, irregular heartbeats, slurred speech can be observed then immediately consult your physician.

 

Contraindications:

  • You should let your doctor know if you have any allergic reactions with the Moclobemide 150mg, 300mg Tablets or its constituents present in the medication.
  • Have a word with your doctor if you are on any other medications so that he can adjust your dose.
  • Do not drive after the intake of Trima drug as it may cause you dizziness.
  • You should consult your doctor if you have any liver disorders or renal impairments so that he can adjust the dose according to the patient’s condition.
  • Let your doctor know if you have any cardiac problems as they may have serious side effects.
  • Consult your doctor if you are a lactating mother as small amounts of this drug may excrete in milk.
  • Aurorix tablets are used when needed in pregnant women or else it is completely avoided.

 

Interactions:

These medications are not used along with some other drugs which may cause interaction with each other and lead to severe adverse effects. Buspirone, Carbamazepine, Fluoxetine, Insulin, Papaverine etc., are some of the drugs which cause interactions with this medication.
