Trazodone 25mg, 50mg, 100mg Tablets are Antidepressant agents. It belongs to the category of Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs). Internationally it is known by the name of Desyrel and Oleptro. In India, it is available by the names Trazalon and Depryl.

Purpose:

  • These tablets are used to treat Major Depressive Disorder (MDD).
  • It improves your appetite, mood, energy, and restores interest in daily life activities.
  • Desyrel tablets also help in curing insomnia and anxiety.

 

Mechanism:

Oleptro maintains the mental balance by increasing the levels of serotonin and noradrenaline (chemical messengers), which are natural substances of our brain.

 

Dosage:

  • Strictly as prescribed by your doctor.
  • An initial dose of Depryl should be 150 mg per day.
  • The dose can be increased by 50 mg per day, every 3-4 days.
  • The maximum consumption of Trazalon tablets should be 600 mg in a day.
  • The consumption should be after a meal.
  • If you’re taking doses in a break, one dose should be taken before going to bed.

 

Side effects:

  • Common side effects of Trazalon are diarrhea, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, drowsiness, constipation, or increased sweating.

Precautions and measures:

  • Do not increase, decrease, or discontinue Depryl tablets at your own ease.
  • Visit your doctor right away, if you develop a high fever or sore throat.
  • If you have had a personal or family medical history of bipolar disorder, glaucoma, kidney disease, liver disease, seizure disorder, abuse of alcohol, or high blood pressure, inform your doctor before starting with this medication.
  • If you develop suicidal thoughts, sudden mood changes, consult your doctor immediately.
  • Do not crush, break or split the Depryl capsules.
  • Keep Trazodone 25mg, 50mg, 100mg Tablets away from the reach of kids and pets.
  • If you are a diabetes patient, keep a check on your blood sugar levels regularly, while being on the treatment of Trazalon tablets.
  • Prohibit the intake of alcohol and marijuana, as it may lead to extreme sleepiness and drowsiness.

 

Interactions:

Avoid taking MAO inhibitors such as Moclobemide, Isocarboxazid, Methylene Blue, Pehelzine, Safinamide, Procarbazine, Selegiline, Rasagiline, and Tranylcypromine along with Trazodone 25mg, 50mg, 100mg Tablets as it can be fatal.
