Purpose

Tofisopam 50mg, 100mg tablets are used for the treatment of the following:

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Depression, mood disorders, reduced ability to enjoy life
  • Alcohol withdrawal syndromes, tremors, nausea, and hallucinations

The medication comes under the international brand names of Emandaxin and Grandaxin, and also has an Indian brand name of toficalm.

 

How does it work?

Emandaxin tablets contain benzodiazepines that act on the disturbed chemicals of the brain which causes anxiety and depression problems.  On consumption, its active ingredients work on these chemicals and hence produce a calming effect.

 

Measures and precautions

  1. Tofisopam 50mg, 100mg tablets are prescribed by the doctor for treating depression and anxiety.
  2. The grandaxin tablets are not good for children less than 18 years. It can be harmful to them.
  3. Toficalm tablets can be consumed with or without food. They are food-independent.
  4. Consume the tofisopam 50mg, 100mg tablets as instructed by the doctor. Do not intake the tablets without proper consultation from the doctor.
  5. Immediately consult the doctor, if any undesirable changes occur in the body.
  6. Do not stop the dosages of toficalm tablets suddenly. They can cause serious withdrawal syndromes.
  7. Make sure that the course of the tofisopam 50mg, 100mg tablets is completed. Do not stop it in half. It may cause adverse problems.
  8. If any dose of toficalm tablets is missed, then it should be taken immediately. However, if the time of the next dose is near then do take the next dose. do not try to double the doses.
  9. Seek the help of a doctor in the case of overdose. It is advised to not overdose yourself. But if it happens, then do take the help of a doctor for it.
  10. Pregnant women and breastfeeding women should not intake these pills as they are not good for their health. It can also harm their baby.
  11. The tablets are safe with the usage of alcohol as no adverse effect is observed in this case.
  12. The pills are not habit-forming. So, it is safe to use.
  13. Patients with allergies should not consume these pills as they are not good for them.

No interaction is seen with alcohol. So, it is safe for that purpose.
