Purpose

Atenolol 25mg, 50mg, 100mg Tablets are used for the treatment of

• Hypertension (high blood pressure)
• Heart attacks
• Kidney problems

The medication comes under abrand name of Tenormin.

 

How does it work?

The main ingredients of this tablet are chlorthalidone and atenolol which act as beta-blockers. The tablets work by blocking the action of certain natural chemicals in the user body which affects epinephrine. This lowers the blood pressure in the body and hence regulates the blood flow. Chlorthalidone is called a “water pill” which also helps in reducing extra fluid and water from the body.

 

Measures and precautions

1. Tenormin tablets are prescribed by the doctor to treat the symptoms of high blood pressure in its users.
2. Read the instructions carefully before consuming the tablets to avoid any misconceptions regarding them.
3. Tenormin tablets can be consumed with or without food. They are food-independent.
4. Intake these pills at a time close to bedtime. It is the ideal time to consume it.
5. Consume the Atenolol 25mg, 50mg, 100mg Tablets as instructed by the doctor in the prescribed time only. Do not intake the tablets without proper consultation from the concerned doctor.
6. Immediately consult the doctor, if any undesirable changes occur in the body after consumption.
7. Take the Atenolol 25mg, 50mg, 100mg Tablets through the mouth only. No other means should be entertained for consuming these pills.
8. If any dose of Tenormin tablets is missed, then it should be taken immediately as prescribed by the doctor. However, if the time of the next dose is near then do take the next dose. do not try to double the doses.
9. Take the help of a doctor in the case of overdose. It is advised to not overdose yourself. But if it happens, then do take the help of a doctor for it.
10. Pregnant women and breastfeeding women should not intake these tablets as they are not good for their health. It can also harm their baby.
11. Patients with allergies should not consume these tablets as they are not good for them.
