Targocid
Drug Name: Teicoplanin 200mg, 400mg Injection
Details
Teicoplanin 200mg, 400mg Injection is a newly developed glycopeptide antibiotic which kills both aerobic and anaerobic Gram-positive bacteria.
It is mostly used in patients resistant or allergic to penicillin in place of vancomycin.
Mechanism of action:it acts by inhibiting the action of transglycosylase resulting in prevention of elongation of peptidoglycan and crosslinking during cell wall synthesis. This causes the death of the gram positive bacteria due to a weakened cell wall.
