Purpose
Beractant 4ml, 8ml intratracheal suspension is used for
- Treatment of pyrogenic pulmonary dysfunctions
- Lowers the tension of other natural lung surfactants.
It comes under the brand name of survanta which is available in the pharma market.
How does it work?
Survanta surfactants are a natural bovine lung extract that contains phospholipids, fatty acids, surfactant-associated proteins, and neutral lipids. The surfactants are designed for the treatment of respiratory distress syndrome in premature infants. The active ingredients of survanta surfactant act on the pulmonary functions of the user and hence treats it well.
Measures and precautions
- Beractant 4ml, 8ml intratracheal suspension is for the use of intratracheal purposes only. It should be not taken in absence of the doctor.
- Survanta suspension is used under the strict supervision of a doctor only. Before the application of this medication, the users should carefully read all instructions of it.
- Each ml of suspension has 25mg of phospholipids. The physical appearance of this suspension is off-white to light brown.
- The suspension is heat-sterilized and contains the hydrophilic, large molecular weight surfactants associatedwith protein molecules, called SP-A.
- Each beractant 4ml, 8ml intratracheal suspension has 100 mg phospholipids and 8ml contains 200 mg phospholipids.
- The first four doses of beractant 4ml, 8ml intratracheal suspension can be administered in the first 48 hours of the life of an infant.
- The doses are recommended by the doctor based on the medical conditions of the infant.
- Do not overdose on the suspension doses because they can harm the user’s body a lot.
- If allergies are reported in the users, the doses should be stopped.
- In the case of side-effects, it should be reported to the doctor.
- The first dose is given to the infant after 15 minutes of diagnosis. And the respective doses should have a time interval to observe any side-effects in the user.

Storage
The medicine should be kept in a cool place and at a temperature of 36 degrees to 46-degree F. it is frozenat this temperature to maintain its effectiveness. The suspension is kept away from the reach of children and other sensitive hosts. Do not heat the suspension as it will destroy all its effective ingredients.
