Cyclosporin 25mg, 50mg, 100mg Capsules are an immunosuppressant that prevents organ rejection after a liver, kidney, or heart transplant. Sandimmun Neoral is the universal brand name of this drug. It is a cyclic polypeptide consisting of 11 amino acids.

 

Purpose:

• It is used for the treatment of patients where methotrexate did not adequately respond to the disease of severe rheumatoid arthritis.
• Used as an alternative in patients for whom the systemic therapies did not work or were contraindicated.
• Nonimmunocompromised patients with severe plaque psoriasis who failed to respond to retinoids are treated with Cyclosporin 25mg, 50mg, 100mg Capsules.

 

Mechanism:

Sandimmun Neoral suppresses the humoral immunity and cell-mediated immune reactions as well, such as delayed hypersensitivity, allograft rejection, adjuvant arthritis, and graft versus host disease. It reversibly inhibits immunocompetent lymphocytes of the cell cycle at the G0 and G1 phase.

 

Dosage:

• Strictly as prescribed by your doctor.
• The initial dose for effective results is 15 mg once daily.
• Within 12 hours before surgery, 15 mg should be given, divided into two doses.
• A maintenance dose of 6 mg should be given, divided into two doses.

 

Side effects:

• Swelling and unusual growth of gums due to the usage of Sandimmun Neoral tablets.
• There can be a rise in your blood pressure. Keep a close check on it regularly.
• If you experience any signs of dark urine, chest pain, seizures, confusion, convulsions, change in the amount of urine, difficulty in concentrating, vision changes, clumsiness, loss of coordination, problems in speech, or weakness in the body, consult your doctor right away before the situation worsens.

 

Precautions and measures:

• If you have ever had a medical history of high blood pressure, cancer, kidney disease, liver disease, skin lesions, mineral imbalance, high cholesterol, or any recent infections, inform your doctor about the same before getting on this medication of Cyclosporin 25mg, 50mg, 100mg Capsules.
• Prohibit or at the very least limit your consumption of alcohol and marijuana as they can cause a lot of sleepiness and dizziness.
• Limit your time in sunlight. Always be fully clothed and wear sunscreen whenever outdoors.
• This medication can lead to an increase in potassium levels in the body. Before taking any extra supplements for the same, ask your doctor.
• During the medication of Cyclosporin 25mg, 50mg, 100mg Capsules, there is a greater risk of developing skin cancer or kidney infections.

Interactions:

Some products that can react with Sandimmun Neoral and produce negative results are Mifepristone, Tacrolimus, Boceprevir, Spironolactone among others.
