Tretinoin 0.05%, 0.025% Cream belongs to the category of drugs called Retinoids is used for Acne Treatment.It decreases the severity of acne and the number of pimples. Internationally it is known as Retin-A, Renova or Avita. In Indian pharmacies, it is available by the name of Retino-A.

 

Purpose:

Mechanism:

Tretinoin 0.05%, 0.025% Cream helps in reduction of oil production on the skin. This keeps your face a little dry towards normal and does not encourage the formation of pimples. Retinoic and Vitamin A acid are active ingredients that help in this process.

 

Dosage:

  • As prescribed by your doctor/physician.
  • If Retin-A is self-administered, you should be aware of all the preparations before putting it to use.
  • Quantity equivalent to the size of a pea should be taken on the finger and then applied gently in a thin layer to the affected area.
  • Use Renova cream for 8-12 weeks to get the best results.

 

Side effects:

  • A sensation of stinging or itching might occur right after applying Tretinoin 0.05%, 0.025% Cream. Do not poke.
  • Scaling
  • Redness
  • Rashes
  • Dry skin
  • Uncontrollable itching
  • Worsening of acne. This will happen during the first few weeks of applying Avita cream, and slowly heal down. If it worsens, consult your doctor immediately.
  • There can be signs of swelling, blisters, conjunctivitis, skin discolouration or crysting by the usage of Retino-A. This should be reported to the doctor instantly.

 

Precautions and measures:

  • Make sure your face is washed thoroughly and completely dried before applying Retino-A cream.
  • Wash your hands before taking the cream on your finger.
  • It is advised to put once daily, during bedtime for noticeable results.
  • This medication is meant for external use only.
  • Do not use it near your lips.
  • If it gets into your eyes by any chance, wash with water immediately.
  • Limit your time under the sun. If you are outdoors, cover yourself fully and use sunscreen.
  • If you have or are recently using products containing sulphur,salicylic acid or resorcinol acid, use Retino-A cream with caution.
  • Avoid any kind of treatments such as laser, waxing or threading on face during the tenure of using Tretinoin 0.05%, 0.025% Cream.

If your hands are not clean, apply it with an earbud or a piece of cotton.
