Drug Name: Rabeprazole 10mg, 20mg Tablets
Details
Rabeprazole 10mg, 20mg tablets belong to the category of Antiulcerants, Anti Acidity drugs and are useful in decreasing the acid levels in the stomach. These are known as Pariet internationally. In India, these tablets are available under the brand name Rabicip.
Uses
- Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease known as GORD, is seen to include heartburn in a body. GORD is caused generally when the acid and food from your stomach escapes into your food pipe. Rabicip helps to relieve that issue.
- If the ulcers in your body are infected with bacteria called Helicobacter pylori you will be given antibiotics. Using Pariet tablets and antibiotics together gets rid of this infection and makes the ulcer heal properly. It also stops the infection and ulcer from coming back in full extremity.
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome where the stomach usually produces too much acid can be cured by consuming Rabeprazole 10mg, 20mg Tablets.
Side effects
Rabeprazole 10mg, 20mg Tablets may cause several side effects that may include-
Common
- Infections
- Difficulty sleeping
- Headache or feeling dizzy
- Cough, runny nose or sore throat
- Effects on your stomach or gut such as stomach pain, diarrhoea, wind, feeling sick, being sick or constipation
- Aches or sometimes back pain
- Weakness or flu-like symptoms
- Benign polyps in the stomach.
Uncommon
- Feeling nervous or drowsy
- Chest infection
- Painful and blocked sinuses
- Dry mouth
- Indigestion or belching
- Skin rash or redness
- Muscle, leg or joint pain
- Fractures of the hip, wrist and spine
- Bladder infection
- Chest pain
- Chills or fever
- Changes in how your liver is working
Rare
- Loss of appetite
- Depression
- Hypersensitivity
- Visual disturbance
- Sore mouth or taste disturbance
- Upset stomach or stomach pain
- Liver problems like yellow skin and whites in your eyes
- Itchy rash or blistering skin
Other possible side effects
- Breast swelling in men
- Fluid retention
- Inflammation of the gut
- Low blood levels of sodium that can generally cause tiredness and confusion, muscle twitching, etc.
- Patients who have had liver problems may very rarely get encephalopathy and other effects due to Rabicip.
- Rash, possibly with pain in the joints
Storage
- Rabeprazole 10mg, 20mg Tablets are packaged in a double-sided aluminium blister strip.
- Do not take Rabeprazole 10mg,20mg tablets out of the blister pack until it is time to take them. The tablet might get affected if it comes in contact with air and moisture for a prolonged time.
- Keep these tablets in a cool and dry place where the temperature is mostly below 25°C. Do not keep it in the refrigerator.
Do not store Rabicip in the bathroom or near a sink or toilet, in the car or on window sills. Heat and dampness can destroy them to an extent.
