Conjugated Estrogens 0.625mg per gram Vaginal Cream is  Oestrogens and Progesterones agent.

It is a hormone replacement therapy consisting of Progesterones and Oestrogens. It reduces the vaginal symptoms of menopause in women such as burning, itching, or dryness. Premarin is the universal brand name of this medicine. However, it is also known by the name Enjuvia abroad.

Purpose:

It is used to treat:

  • Hot flushes
  • Itching in vagina
  • Estrogen deficiency
  • Thinning of bones (Osteoporosis)
  • Breast cancer
  • Prostate cancer

 

Mechanism:

Conjugated Estrogens 0.625mg per gram Vaginal Cream replaces the lack of estrogen production by the female ovaries that happen during menopause and relieve the mild or severe symptoms of menopause. These can be bones getting porous, mood swings, night sweats among others.

 

Dosage:

  • Strictly as prescribed by your doctor/physician.
  • For women without fully-functioning ovaries, your doctor will prescribe Enjuvua according to your needs.
  • For symptoms of menopause and prevention of osteoporosis, apply it with an applicator, on the external area, before going to bed once daily.

 

Side effects:

Common side effects of Enjuvia-

  • headache,
  • pelvic pain,
  • flushing (warmth, redness, or tingly feeling),
  • breast pain,
  • vaginal itching or discharge,
  • changes in your menstrual periods, and
  • breakthrough bleeding

Severe side effects-

  • chest pain or pressure,
  • pain spreading to your jaw or shoulder,
  • nausea,
  • sweating,
  • sudden numbness or weakness (especially on one side of your body),
  • sudden severe headache,
  • slurred speech,
  • problems with vision or balance,
  • sudden vision loss,
  • stabbing chest pain,
  • feeling short of breath,
  • coughing up blood,
  • pain or warmth in one or both legs,
  • swelling or tenderness in your stomach,
  • yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice),
  • memory problems,
  • confusion,
  • unusual behavior,
  • unusual vaginal bleeding,
  • pelvic pain
  • lump in your breast,
  • vomiting,
  • constipation,
  • increased thirst or urination,
  • muscle weakness,
  • bone pain, and
  • lack of energy

Contact your doctor immediately if the symptoms listed above persist for a longtime or worsen.

 

Precautions and measures:

  • If you have ever had breast or ovarian cancer, inform your doctor before starting with Premarin tablets.
  • Any case of uterus problems such as endometriosis or fibroids should be reported to the doctor as well.
  • Consumption of tobacco or cigarettes is strictly prohibited during the period.
  • Conjugated Estrogens 0.625mg per gram Vaginal Cream can lead to melasma and can worsen if you face the sun. Limit your time under the sun, and be fully clothed when outdoors.
  • The patient might face problems in wearing contact lenses, he/she may consult his/her eye specialist.
  • It has been established that most of the children are intolerant of this drug and therefore it should be given to them under strict guidance.
  • Under no circumstances a pregnant and lactating woman should use this medication.
  • Conjugated Estrogens 0.625mg per gram Vaginal Cream should not be used to cure Dementia.
  • If you are going to have major surgery, this medication should be discontinued at least 4 weeks before that.
  • Store it a room temperature between 10°-30°
  • It is not meant for children.

 

Interactions:

  • Aromatase inhibitors such as Letrozole, Anastrozole, and Eexemestane can react negatively with Premarin.

Consuming this medication might interfere with the Metyrapone laboratory test.
