Mefenamic acid 50 mg per 5 ml Suspension with brand name Ponstan 50 mg per 5 ml Suspension is an antipyretics. It falls under Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs class.

Uses:

Mefenamic acid 50 mg per 5 ml Suspension are used for following treatments:

• For treating mild to moderate pain in the body caused by various conditions.
• For treating excessive blood loss and cramps during menstrual cycle.

 

Dosage:

Dosage of Ponstan 50 mg per 5 ml Suspension depends upon the age and severity of the condition of patient.

• For the treatment of pain- For the patients who are 14 years of age and above, initial dose is of 500 mg. This is reduced to 250 mg in every six hours (not recommended for more than seven days).
• For treatment of menstrual pain- For the patients who are 14 years of age and above, initial dose given is 500 mg which is reduced to 250 mg in every six hours (not recommended for more than three days).
