Trihexyphenidyl HCl 2 mg tablets, marketed under the brand name Artane 2 mg (international) and Pacitane 2 mg (national) is an antiparkinsonian drug.

Uses:

Artane 2 mg belongs to the class anticholinergics which are responsible for blocking acetylcholine. Various uses of the medicine are:

  • For treating symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
  • For the treatment of muscles stiffness.
  • For the treatment of movement side effects caused by anti psychotic medicine.

 

Dosage:

Pacitane 2 mg is an oral drug and its dosage depends on the age and severity. The drug is not recommended for patients below 18 years.

  • Initial dose- Starting dose is of 1 mg daily.
  • Increased dose- 2 mg for three to five days which may be further increased to 6 to 10 mg daily.
  • Maintenance dose- 12 mg to 15 mg daily in divided doses.
