Polymyxin B Sulphate 5000 units, Bacitracin Zinc 400 units, Neomycin Sulphate 3400 units per 1 gm Skin Ointment is used as a topical antibiotic. This drug is a combination of three antibiotics such as Neomycin, Bacitracin, and Polymyxin. It is known as Neosporin all over the world.
Uses:
- It is used to treat bacterial eye infections.
- It is also used to treat minor cuts and wounds.
- It is also used to treat scrapes and burns.
- Neosporin reduces the symptoms of skin infections such as rashes and itching.
How does it work?
Polymyxin B Sulphate 5000 units, Bacitracin Zinc 400 units, Neomycin Sulphate 3400 units per 1 gm Skin Ointment shows bactericidal action. When the antibiotic is used it acts by interfering with plasma membrane permeation and inhibits the growth of bacterial cell walls by killing the bacteria.
Dosage:
- Read out the instructions carefully present on the medication leaflet before using the Polymyxin B Sulphate 5000 units, Bacitracin Zinc 400 units, Neomycin Sulphate 3400 units per 1 gm Skin Ointment.
- Before using the medication, a physician’s prescription is advised.
- Wash your hands before and after the application of the cream.
- A gentle amount of the ointment is taken and applied to the affected area as a thin layer about 2 to 3 times a day.
- Do not get this medication into your eyes. If it occurs, rinse your eyes thoroughly with cold water.
- Use it regularly for effective results.
- Do Not apply this medication on broken skin or cover it with airtight dressings.

Storage:
Neosporin is stored in a cool and dry place with a temperature of 15-30°C.
