Naratriptan 1 mg, 2.5 mg tablets available by brand names Amerge 1 mg, 2.5 mg tablets (international) and Naratrex 1 mg, 2.5 mg tablets (national) is an anti-migraine medicine.

Uses:

Amerge 1 mg, 2.5 mg tablets belongs to a class of triptan group. It works by blocking the pathways of pain by managing the level of serotonin in the brain. Various uses of the drug are:

• For the treatment of acute migraine headache.
• For the treatment of migraine symptoms such as sensitivity to light, vomiting, etc.

The medicine only reduces the headache that has already started. It does not prevent it.

 

Dosage:

Dosage of Naratrex 1 mg, 2.5 mg tablets varies depending on the age and severity of the pain. General dosage is as follows:

• 1-2.5 mg taken orally when the headache starts. Do not take another dose before 4 hours. Maximum dosage to be taken in a day is 5 mg.

 

Caution:

The medicine is not recommended for paediatric and geriatric usage as it has shown to have adverse effects.

The medicine is not for daily use. It is used when required.

• If you suffer from high blood pressure, let your doctor know as the drug can elevate the symptoms.
• If you had/have any heart problem such as coronary artery disease, stroke; tell your doctor.
• If you have any liver or kidney problem, tell your doctor beforehand to avoid any further damage.
• Use the medicine when only needed as Naratrex 1 mg, 2.5 mg tablets only received the pain. It does not prevent migraine.
• The drug makes you dizzy. Do not drink alcohol, drive or operate heavy machines while being on the medication.
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, tell your doctor about your condition.
