Details
Modafinil 100mg, 200mg Tablets is a prescription medicine that is used to treat the symptoms of excessive sleepiness. It is worldwide known as Provigil. In India, it is known as Modapro and Modalert.
Uses
- Modafinil 100mg, 200mg Tablets generally reduce extreme sleepiness due to narcolepsy, OSA and other sleep disorders, such as periods of breathlessness during sleep and much more.
- Modalert is generally used to help the patient stay awake during work hours or study hours if you have a schedule that keeps you from having a normal sleep routine.
Dosage
- Take Modafinil 100mg, 200mg Tablets as prescribed by your doctor.
- Recommended dosage for narcolepsy and OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea)- 200mg taken once a day in the morning.
- Recommended dosage for SWD (Shift Work Disorder)- 200 mg once a day, one hour before starting the work shift.
Side effects
Common side effects caused by Modalert are-
- headache,
- dizziness,
- feeling nervous,
- anxiety,
- back pain,
- nausea,
- diarrhoea,
- upset stomach,
- sleep problems (insomnia), and
- stuffy nose
Severe side effects caused by Modapro are-
- skin rash (no matter how small),
- hives,
- blisters or peeling skin,
- mouth sores,
- trouble swallowing,
- fever,
- shortness of breath,
- swelling in your legs,
- dark urine,
- yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice),
- swelling in your face, eyes, lips, tongue or throat,
- depression,
- anxiety,
- suicidal thoughts or actions,
- hallucinations,
- unusual thoughts or behaviour,
- aggression,
- being more active or talkative than usual,
- chest pain,
- trouble breathing, and
- uneven heartbeats
If any of the side effects of Modapro mentioned above persist for a long time or get worse, contact your doctor immediately.
Precautions
- Before taking Modafinil 100mg, 200mg Tablets, it is necessary to tell your doctor if you are allergic to any of the ingredients it contains as it is known to cause several severe side effects in patients.
- Before using Modapro, tell your doctor about all your medical history, especially if you have or ever had any cardiac abnormalities (such as enlarged heart, a mitral valve problem, chest pain, heart attack, irregular heartbeat), health problems after taking stimulant drugs such as amphetamines (including chest pain, irregular heartbeat), high blood pressure, liver problems, mental/mood disorder, personal or family history of a substance use disorder, etc.
- Sleep disorders may reduce your ability to react quickly and properly. Though Modalert might help to keep you awake, you still may not be able to do things properly that require absolute quick reactions. This drug may also make you dizzy.
Provigil does not cure sleep disorders and also may not get rid of all your sleepiness. It only helps you stay awake for a limited period of time.
