Mirtazapine 15mg, 30mg, 45mg Tablets are Antidepressant agents. This medicine restores the balance of neurotransmitters, which are natural chemicals in our brain. It belongs to the category of Alpha-2 Antagonists. Remeron is the international brand name of this medicine whereas, in India, it is known by the name of Mirnite.

Purpose:

  • Improves feeling of well-being and enhances the mood.
  • Mirnite is used to treat Major Depressive Disorder (MDD).
  • It can also be used to treat generalized anxiety disorder in adults and pediatric patients 7 years of age and older

 

Mechanism:

Mirtazapine 15mg, 30mg, 45mg Tablets maintain the mental balance by increasing the levels of serotonin and noradrenaline (chemical messengers), which are natural substances of our brain.

 

Dosage:

  • Strictly as prescribed by the doctor/physician.
  • The recommended dosage for effective results is the initial dose should begin with 15 mg, once daily, preferably during the evening or before going to bed.
  • The dosage can be increased up to 45 mg, as per the severity of the condition.
  • Remeron medication is advised for up to 40 weeks for proper recovery, plus 8-12 weeks of the initial course of 15 mg, per day.

 

Side effects:

  • Common side effects of Mirnite are diarrhea, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, drowsiness, constipation, or increased sweating.

Precautions and measures:

  • Do not increase, decrease, or discontinue the medication at your own ease.
  • Visit your doctor right away, if you develop a high fever or sore throat.
  • If you have had a personal or family medical history of bipolar disorder, glaucoma, kidney disease, liver disease, seizure disorder, abuse of alcohol, or high blood pressure, inform your doctor before starting with this medication.
  • If you develop suicidal thoughts, sudden mood changes, consult your doctor immediately.
  • Do not crush, break or split the Mirnite capsules.
  • Keep them away front the reach of kids and pets.
  • If you are a diabetes patient, keep a check on your blood sugar levels regularly, while being on this treatment.
  • Prohibit the intake of alcohol and marijuana, as it may lead to extreme sleepiness and drowsiness.

 

Interactions:

Some products that can react with Mirtazapine 15mg, 30mg, 45mg Tablets and produce fatal results are Tranylcypromine, Moclobemide, Rasagiline, Isocarboxazid, Phenelzine, and Selegiline.
