Prazosin HCl 2.5 mg/5 mg tablets marketed under brand name Minipress 2.5 mg/5 mg (international) and Minipress-XL 2.5 mg/5 mg (national) is an antihypertensive drug.

Uses:

Minipress 2.5 mg/5 mg belongs to class alpha blockers. Uses of the medicine are:

  • For the treatment of high blood pressure.
  • For relaxing the blood vessels to maintain smooth blood flow.

 

Dosage:

Minipress-XL 2.5 mg/5 mg comes in capsules and its dosage varies depending upon your age. The drug is not recommended for patients who are less than 18 years of age.

  • Initial dose- 1 mg two or three times in a day (depending on the severity).
  • Increased dose- 20 mg per day in divided dose.
  • Maintenance dose- 6 mg to 15 mg daily in divided doses.
