Methylergometrine Maleate (Methylergonovine Maleate) 0.125 mg tablets with brand name Methergin 0.125 mg is a postpartum haemorrhage drug.

Uses:

Methergin 0.125 mg is an ergot alkaloid that works on the muscles of uterus. Various uses of the medicine are:

  • Used to control bleeding after child birth.
  • Used to strengthen the muscles of uterus and control the timings of contractions.
  • Used to treat uterine problem that arise after giving birth.

 

Dosage:

Dosage of Methylergometrine Maleate (Methylergonovine Maleate) 0.125 mg tablets varies depending upon the amount of bleeding after childbirth.

  • Generally 0.2 mg is given 3 to 4 times daily for 1 week (not exceeding from 1 week) after delivery.
