Adalimumab 40mg injection is used for the treatment of:

  • various types of arthritis: Rheumatoid, idiopathic, ankylosing, spondylitis, psoriatic, and juvenile types
  • reduces certain joint pains
  • reduces joint swelling

This injection comes in an international brand name of Humira and an Indian brand name of Mabura.

 

How does it work?

Humira injection works by blocking the protein called tumor necrosis factor (TNF). This protein is found in the human’s immune system which causes joint swelling in arthritis.  It also causes red scaly patches over the arthritic skin.  The drug here blocks the TNF and hence prevents damages to the body.

 

Measures and Precautions

  1. Mabura injection helps reduce further swelling of the joints and also prevents more damage to the user’s body.
  2. The doses of the adalimumab 40mg injection are based on the patient ‘s medical history and the disease of arthritis.
  3. For different age groups people, the doses are different. The children are given a dose of 20mg per 0.4ml of the injection, and the adults are given the dose of 40mg per 0.8ml.
  4. If the users develop symptoms of sepsis, then he or she should stop the doses of the injection.
  5. The Mabura injection can be used alone or combined with Methotrexate for the treatment process.
  6. The adalimumab 40mg injection is effective when it is taken regularly daily according to the directives of the doctor.
  7. This medication comes in single-use vials which are administered by an expert healthcare worker intravenously.
  8. To observe benefits from the Mabura injection, the doses are doubled up frequently.
  9. For the treatment of patients over 65 years, it should be used with caution.
  10. Store the solution of adalimumab 40mg injection in a cool place out of the reach of small children.
  11. If the users have any kind of allergies, they should inform their doctor about it. Any kind of allergies from the medicine is not good for the treatment of arthritis.

  • Meningococcal group B Vaccine
  • Hydroxyurea
  • Fingolimod
  • Influenza virus vaccine
  • Sipuleucel – T
  • Mercaptopurine
  • Belatacept
  • Astragulus

These interactions decrease the effectiveness of the above injection.
