Purpose
Cabazitaxel 60mg per 1.5ml injection is an antineoplastic agent which is used for the treatment of cancer cells. It comes under the brand name of Jevtana. It belongs to the category of taxane class of intravenous use.
Preparation
The jevtana injection is prepared by semi-synthesis with a precursor element extracted from the yew needles.
Measures and precautions
- Cabazitaxel 60mg per 1.5 ml injection is used to treat cancer cells. The injection is applied as per the doctor’s instructions and in presence of an expert.
- Jevtana injection is a sterile, clear yellow to brownish-yellow viscous fluid with non-pyrogenic nature. The injection is available in single-dose vials that have 60mg Cabazitaxel and 1.56g polysorbate 80.
- The injection should be diluted before administering it in the body with diluents available in the market, like dextrose solution.
- The recommended dose of jevtana injection depends on the calculation of the body surface area (BSA) of the user. The dose is 20mg/m2 administered in one-hour intravenous infusion in the body of the user.
- The dose of 25mg/m2 of cabazitaxel 60mg per 1.5 ml injection is administered to patients in extreme cases under the doctor’s supervision.
- Premedication at least 30 min before the actual dose of injection should be given to the patients to reduce the risk of side-effects and severe hypersensitivity.
- Read carefully the instructions for diluting and mixing of Cabazitaxel 60mg per 1.5ml injection for proper administration.
- Do not overdose by yourself with this injection. It can cause harmful conditions to the body.
- Avoid alcohol consumption while on the administration of this injection. It can be severe.
- Pregnant women should not take such injections, as they are harmful to them and their baby.
- If the patients have any allergies, then he or she should not use the injection.
- Patients with kidney and liver failures should not take such injections, as they are lethal to them.

Interactions
Some interactive reactions are observed with concomitant drugs such as itraconazole, atazanavir, ketoconazole, ritonavir, voriconazole, saquinavir, nefazodone. These interactions may increase plasma concentrations of active ingredient Cabazitaxel. Hence, it is advised not to co-administer such drugs with this product or injection.
