Ivermectol

Details

Ivermectin 3mg, 6mg, 12mg Tablets are Anthelmintic agents. They are semisynthetic in nature, derived from avermectins. The international name for this medicine is Stromectol. Ivermectol is the Indian brand name of this drug.

Purpose:

• Ivermectol is indicated for the treatment of anguillulosis (intestinal strongyloidiasis).
• Treatment of proven suspected microfilaraemia in patients with lymphatic filariasis caused by Wuchereria bancrofti is also done with the help of Stromectol tablets.
• It is used in the treatment of human sarcoptic Scabies too.

Dosage:

• Take Ivermectin 3mg, 6mg, 12mg Tablets as prescribed by your doctor.
• The recommended dosage of 3mg for strongyloidiasis is based on the weight of an individual which is as follows:
• Between 15-24 kgs: 1 tablet, daily.
• Between 25-35 kgs: 2 tablets, daily.
• Between 36-50 kgs: 3 tablets, daily.
• 51-65 kgs: 4 tablets, daily.
• 66-79 kgs: 5 tablets, daily.
• 80+ kgs: 200 mg, daily
• The recommended dosage of 3mg for onchocerciasis is based on the weight of the individual which is as follows:
• Between 15-25 kgs: 1 tablet, daily.
• Between 26-44 kgs: 2 tablets, daily.
• Between 45-64 kgs: 3 tablets, daily.
• Between 65-84 kgs: 4 tablets, daily.
• Above 185 kgs: 150 mcg, daily.

Side effects:

• Common side effects of Ivermectol are nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, fever, lightheadedness, headache, muscle pain, joint pain, swelling of the face, itching, rashes, weakness, and fatigue.
• Serious side effects are asthenia, somnolence, urticaria, pruritus, anorexia, seizures, confusions, chest pain, loss of consciousness, fast heartbeat, blackouts among others.
• If any of the above-mentioned side effects persist for long or are causing uneasiness, consult your doctor right away.

Precautions and measures:

• These tablets should be taken on an empty stomach, swallowed with water.
• Stool and blood tests might be needed while being on the medication Ivermectin 3mg, 6mg, 12mg Tablets.
• Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and marijuana, as they can lead to extreme sleepiness.
• Include lots of fluids in your diet.
• Do not crush, break or split the tablets.
• Keep it away from kids and pets.
• Store Ivermectol tablets at room temperature.
• A repeated course of therapy may be required by people suffering from strongyloidiasis, and people with weak immune systems.
• Skip the missed dose, if it is almost time for your next dose, do not take them together.
• Do not increase, decrease or stop taking the dose, at your own ease.

Interactions:

Some drugs that can react with Ivermectin 3mg, 6mg, 12mg Tablets are Barbiturates, Sodium oxybate, Valproic acid, Lorazepam, Butalbital, Clonazepam, and others. They can produce negative effects on the original drug.
