Magnesium trisilicate 500 mg + dried aluminium hydroxide 250 mg tablets, also known as Gelusil MPS is an anti-acidity medicine.

Uses:

Gelusil MPS is a combination of medicine that is used for following purposes:

  • Upset stomach
  • Indigestion
  • Heart burning sensation caused due to acid reflux
  • Gastric hyperacidity
  • Bloating or discomfort in stomach

 

Dosage:

Gelusil MPS tablets are chewable tablets. Dosage form of these tablets is:

  • Adults and children above 12 years- Chew 2 to 4 tablets. Can be repeated hourly if symptoms return.
  • Children below 12 years of age- Not recommended or as directed by the doctor
  • Taking more than 12 tablets in 24 hours is not recommended.

 

Side effects:

Although the side effects caused by Magnesium trisilicate 500 mg + dried aluminium hydroxide 250 mg tablets do not require any medical help. But see your doctor if any of the following issue elevates:

  • Allergies such as rashes on skin and itching.

  • Do not swallow the tablet rather chew it so that it forms foam inside the mouth and then drink a glass of water.
  • Inform your doctor if you are on sodium restricted or low-salt diet.
  • If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, let your doctor know.
  • Tell your doctor if you are lactating as the medicine may pass to the baby by milk.
  • Inform your doctor if you are suffering from ulcer in stomach or intestines.
  • Tell your doctor if you are facing trouble in swallowing.
  • Inform your pharmacist if you have any bowel problem.
  • Inform your doctor about liver or kidney disease if you have.
  • In order to reduce the risk of constipation drink sufficient amount of water.
