Fluconazole 150 mg tablets available by brand names Diflucan 150 mg tablets (international) and Fumycin 150 tablets (national) belong to the class of drugs known as azole antifungals.

Uses:

Diflucan 150 mg tablets are used for the treatment of vaginal infection caused by yeast. It works by inhibiting the growth of the fungus in the vaginal region. The drug is also used for the treatment of fungal infection in mouth, throat, finger nails and toe nails.

 

Dosage:

Dosage of Fumycin 150 mg tablets varies depending upon the type of infection to be treated.

  • Oesophageal candidiasis- Initially 200 mg given orally. Maintenance dose of 100 mg/day one time.
  • Oropharyngeal candidiasis- Initially 200 mg given orally. Maintenance dose of 100 mg/day one time.
  • Cryptococcal Meningitis- Initially 400 mg given orally. Maintenance dose of 200 mg/day one time.
  • Vaginal candidiasis- 150 mg given orally one time.
  • Candida UTI- 50-250 mg given orally once daily.

  • Allergies such as rash, shortness of breath

  • If you notice symptoms of jaundice such as yellow eyes, dark coloured urine consult your doctor and stop the medicine.
  • Fluconazole 150 mg tablets can cause liver dysfunction. Inform your doctor beforehand if you have any liver or kidney problem.
  • If you suffer form heart problem tell your doctor as the drug may cause QT prolongation.
  • The medicine makes you dizzy. Do not drink, drive or operate heavy machines while being on the medication.
  • Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or lactating as the drug is harmful for foetus and new born baby.
