Clomiphene Citrate 25mg, 50mg, 100mg Tablets are fertility drugs used by women. Internationally it is available by the name of Clomid and in India, these tablets are available in pharmacies and on chemist shops under the brand of Fertomid. It is a non-steroidal ovulatory stimulant.
Purpose:
- These tablets are meant to treat infertility in women.
- Patients without ovarian cysts and abnormal vaginal bleeding are treated with this medication.
- It stimulates the hormones to increase at a faster pace then supports ovulation which is the release and growth of a mature egg.
Dosage:
- Treatment should begin with a low dose of one 50mg tablet of Clomiphene Citrate for 5 days.
- Increased doses should be taken only if there are no desired results of ovulation.
- If the first course remains unsuccessful, the second course of Fertomid tablets should begin with 100 mg tablets for 5 days.
- An increase of Clomid medication should not go beyond 100mg for 5 days.
Side effects:
- Common side effects of Clomiphene Citrate 25mg, 50mg, 100mg tablets: hot flushes, headache, dizziness, upset stomach, pelvic fullness among others.
- Rare: Blurred or loss of vision if exposed to bright light often. If it persists for long or worsens, consult your doctor immediately.
- Serious: Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHS). In this fluids might start accumulating in the chest, heart, or stomach during or after the medication of Fertomid. Medical help should be taken right away if felt or sensed such symptoms.
Precautions and measures:
- Before taking the medication, inform your doctor about the history of your uterus, adrenal gland problem, enlarged ovaries, pituitary tumor, or high levels of fat in blood, if any.
- Limit your alcohol consumption when on medication of Clomiphene Citrate 25mg, 50mg, 100mg Tablets.
- This drug can cause high levels of dizziness and therefore any task that requires attention should not be done right after its consumption.
- If you have had any history of allergies, inform your doctor about the same, there might be some inactive ingredients in the medicine which might not be suitable for you.
Interactions:
- Gonadorelin drugs might react with Clomiphene Citrate 25mg, 50mg, 100mg Tablets and hence should not be taken during this medication.
- People on medication for liver disease should not be treated with Fertomid.
Storage:
- These tablets should be stored between 15°C and 30°C of temperature.
- These drugs should be kept away from moisture, light, and dampness.
- It should not be kept in reach of pets and children.
- Do not use expired medication.
Store these tablets in a closed container.
