Drug Name: Fenofibrate 145mg Tablets
Details
Fenofibrate 145mg Tablets are Dyslipidaemic agents. It is a lipid regulating agent. Tricor is the international brand name for this drug. In India, it is known by the name of Fenolip. Fenofibrate is the active ingredient in this tablet and it belongs to the class of Fibrates.
Purpose:
- Tricor helps in reducing bad fat such as triglycerides, Ldl and raises good cholesterol in the body such as HDL.
- Lowering the triglycerides and high cholesterol level helps in decreasing the risk of developing Pancreatitis.
- Fenofibrate 145mg Tablets reduce serum uric acid levels in hyperuricemic.
- It normalizes individuals by increasing the urinary excretion of uric acid.
Dosage:
- For primary Hypercholesterolemia Or Mixed Dyslipidemia patients: 145 mg of Fenolip, daily.
- For severe Hypertriglyceridemia patients: 48-145 mg once a day.
- For Impaired Renal Function: 48 mg once a day.
- If the treatment has lasted for 2 months of 145 mg dose every day, with no adequate results, the treatment should be withdrawn.
Side effects:
- Rare side effects of Fenofibrate 145mg Tablets: gallstones and liver problems.
- Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach ache, headache, dizziness, sleepiness, drowsiness among others.
- Severe side effects of this medication are dark urine, muscle pain, yellowing of skin and eyes, high fever, signs of kidney problem, chest pain, swelling in leg swollen lymph nodes, and persistent cough.
- There are very low chances of a decrease in good cholesterol level HDL, therefore, a regular check on HDL should be kept.
Precautions and measures:
- If you have a medical history of cirrhosis, hepatitis, kidney disease, liver disease, gall bladder disease, or abuse of alcohol, inform your doctor before starting with Fenolip tablets.
- During pregnancy, Fenofibrate 145mg Tablets should be used only when clearly needed.
- People who have severe renal impairment are advised not to consume this drug.
- Limit your intake of alcohol, as it can lead to extreme dizziness and sleepiness.
- Involve in some physical activity for 40 minutes daily.
- Maintain a healthy diet.
- Do not use expired medication.
- Keep it away from kids and pets.
- If you are taking any other cholesterol-lowering drugs, then take them 1 hour prior to this medication.
Interactions:
- Do not use blood thinners such as Warfarin along with Fenolip tablets.
Do not use medicines containing fenofibric acid along with Fenofibrate Tablets, as it can be fatal.
