Febuxostat 40mg, 80mg, 120mg Tablets are hyperuricemia agents. It belongs to the class of xanthine oxidase inhibitors. Uloric is the international name of this drug. Febuxor is the Indian brand name of this medicine.

Purpose:

• Febuxostat 40mg, 80mg, 120mg Tablets are indicated for the treatment of chronic hyperuricemia in patients with gout.
• It is also indicated for the prevention and treatment of hyperuricemia in adult patients undergoing chemotherapy for hematological malignancies.
• High uric acid levels are reduced by this drug.

 

Mechanism:

The amount of serum uric acid is lowered in the body. This prevents gout.

 

Dosage:

• Strictly as prescribed by your doctor.
• The recommended dosage of Uloric for effective results is 40-80 mg, once daily.
• The recommended dosage of Febuxor for tumor lysis syndrome is 120 mg, once daily.
• Dosage adjustment in people with renal impairment might be required.
• The dosage depends on your current health condition, age, weight, and response to the treatment.
• The maximum dose should not exceed 120 mg in a day.

 

Side effects:

• Common side effects of Febuxostat 40mg, 80mg, 120mg Tablets are nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, lightheadedness, fatigue, stomachache, vomiting among others.
• Serious side effects of this drug are cholecystitis, hepatitis, herpes zoster, contusion, hepatomegaly, edema, gait disturbance, hypersensitivity, joint stiffness, agitation, panic attack, incontinence, pruritus, hypotension, eosinophilia.
• Some severe heart problems might occur.
• Slurring of speech, sudden blurry vision, numbness in one side of the body might be experienced.
• If any of the side effects persist for long, or bother you, consult your doctor as early as possible.

 

Precautions and measures:

• Consume enough fluid, at least 3 liters daily, during the tenure of Febuxostat 40mg, 80mg, 120mg Tablets.
• Do not stop taking Febuxor if you experience gout attacks. This could make the attack worse.
• Limit your intake of alcohol and marijuana as it can lead to worsening of the situation.
• Limit your time under the sun. Use sunscreen when outdoors, and be fully clothed.
• It may take several months for the results of this medication to show up.
• Take the tablet at the same time every day, for the most effective results.
• Do not crush, split, or break the tablets.
• Store it at room temperature.
• Do not use expired medication.
• Inform your doctor if you have had a medical history of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease l, chest pain, organ transplant, or cancer, before starting with Febuxor medicine.
