Ezetimibe 10mg Tablets are a Dyslipidaemic Agent. It contains ezetimibe, a related phytosterol absorption and selective inhibitor of intestinal cholesterol. This medicine is available by the name of Zetia in international pharmacies. In India, it is known by the name Ezentia.

Purpose:

  • Ezetimibe 10mg Tablets lower high cholesterol levels.
  • It is used when diet alone is unable to control cholesterol levels.
  • Elevated total cholesterol, LDL (bad) cholesterol, and triglycerides are reduced with the help of Zetia tablets.
  • Good cholesterol (HDL) is increased by these tablets.

 

Mechanism:

Ezentia reduces higher levels of total-C, TG, LDL-C, non-HDL-C, and Apo B, and increases HDL-C through dual inhibition of synthesis and cholesterol absorption.

 

Dosage:

  • Strictly as prescribed by your doctor.
  • The recommended dosage of this drug for effective results is 10 mg once daily.
  • The maximum dose to be consumed in a day is 20 mg.

Side effects:

  • Common side effects of Ezentia are nausea, vomiting, fatigue, stomachache, dizziness, headache, lightheadedness, and diarrhea.
  • A rare but serious effect includes mild memory problems.
  • A serious condition of rhabdomyolysis and autoimmune therapy (muscle problems) might occur, in rare cases.
  • Serious side effects of this drug are dark urine, trouble breathing, yellowing of the skin, liver problems, change in the amount of urine, swelling of face or throat among others.

Precautions and measures:

  • Make sure you have a low-fat diet during this medication.
  • Do regular exercise.
  • If you have had a medical history of alcohol use, kidney disease, or liver problems, inform your doctor about the same before starting with these tablets.
  • It is absorbed via the lungs and body, and must not be used by pregnant ladies, as it can harm the unborn baby.
  • The safety of Ezetimibe 10mg Tablets has not been established in children under the age of 10 years.
  • If you experience muscle problems that do not go away, consult your doctor as early as possible.
  • Do not crush, break, or split the tablet.
  • Do not increase, decrease or stop taking the dose at your own convenience.

 

Interactions:

  • Some medicines that can interact with Ezentia and produce negative effects are Warfarin, Gemfibrozil, Danazol, Cyclosporine, and Daptomycin.

Other medicines can result in complete removal of Ezetimibe 10mg Tablets such as Boceprevir, Colchicine, Ketoconazole, Ritonavir among others.
