Leuprolide 22.5mg, 45mg PF Syrings are Anticancer agents. It is a non-steroidal androgen receptor inhibitor. It belongs to the class of Antiandrogen and Antineoplastic. The universal name of this drug is Eligard.

 

Purpose:

  • Leuprolide 22.5mg, 45mg PF Syrings are used to treat prostate cancer in combination with LHRH agonist therapy or surgical castration.
  • Prevention of disease flare associated with the use of LHRH agonists can also be treated with it.
  • Endometriosis and Fibroids are also treated with this solution.

 

Mechanism:

In the target tissue, the cytosol androgen receptors are bound by the action of androgens. Prostatic carcinoma removes the source of androgen.

 

Dosage:

  • Strictly as prescribed by your doctor.
  • The recommended dose of Eligard for effective results is 1 mg administered as a single daily subcutaneous injection.

 

Side effects:

  • Common side effects of Eligard solutions are back pain, chest pain, headache, constipation, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, anemia, weight gain, dizziness, rash, sweating, lightheadedness, and fatigue.
  • Serious side effects of Leuprolide 22.5mg, 45mg PF Syrings are asthma, sinusitis, cataract, dysuria, leg cramps, syncope, urinary tract disorder, heart arrest, edema, alopecia, skin carcinoma, photosensitivity, myalgia, gout among others.
  • If any of the above-mentioned side effects persist for long, or bother you, consult your doctor as early as possible.

Precautions and measures:

  • This solution is not meant for women.
  • The safety of this medicine has not been established in children under the age of 12 years.
  • If you have had a medical history of liver disease, heart problems, or diabetes, inform your doctor before starting with this medication.
  • This medication may damage sperm, therefore the male and female partner should use birth control methods after 130 days of the treatment getting over, and during its tenure as well.
  • Monitor your blood glucose levels regularly, if you’re a diabetes patient.
  • Regular liver and kidney function tests might be required as per your condition.
  • Avoid direct exposure under sun and tanning beds, as it can lead to skin reactions during the tenure of this solution.
  • This medication should at least be taken for 2 years or 730 days continuously, or until the disease doesn’t stop.
  • This is supposed to be used as a single medication.
  • Do not shake the vial before use.

 

Interactions:

  • Do not consume Warfarin along with Leuprolide 22.5mg, 45mg PF Syrings.
  • Any person who experiences a hypersensitivity reaction to the active salt of this drug, should not consume it.

Drugs that contradict Eligard are Asteizole, Cisapride, and Terfenadine.
