Bisacodyl 5mg enteric coated tablets also known as Dulcolaxis a stimulant laxatives. It worksby increasing and soothing the movement of intestines.

Uses:

Dulcolax 5 mg is an oral medication. Its various uses are:

• The medicine stimulates bowel movements.
• For the treatment of constipation.
• For emptying bowel before operation, colon treatment or X-ray.

 

Dosage:

It is advised to take the medicine as such. Do not crush or chew it as this may destroy the coating of the tablet. Dosage of Bisacodyl 5 mg enteric coated tablets is as follows:

• Adult dose of preparing bowel- 5to 15 mg once in a day (given orally).
• For constipation- 5 to 15 mg once in a day (given by mouth).

Medicine taken orally will start bowel movement within 6 to 12 hours.

Although there are no serious side effects of the medicine but see your doctor if any of the below listed symptoms gets elevated. Various side effects of Bisacodyl 5 mg enteric coated tablets are:

• Allergies such as swelling in face and lips.
• Problem in breathing.
• Rectal bleeding
• Pain in stomach
• Feeling of faintness
• Burning sensation in rectal
• Abdominal cramping and pain
• Nausea
• Diarrhoea (if high dose is given)
• Immune disorders such as hypersensitivity or angioedema

• Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the medicine as this may elevate the allergic reactions.
• Inform your doctor if you suffer from appendicitis.
• See your doctor if you observe rectal bleeding.
• Use of the drug for too long when pregnant is not recommended. Thus tell your doctor if you are pregnant.
• Inform your doctor if you are lactating.
• See your doctor if you observe change in bowel habits since 2 weeks or longer.
• Tell your doctor if you have tears around your rectum.
• Use only when prescribed by your doctor. Do not take it on your own.
