Doxycycline 100 mg tablets available by brand names Vibramycin 100 mg tablets (international) and Doxicip 100 mg tablets (national) is an antibiotic.

Uses:

Vibramycin 100 mg tablets work by inhibiting the growth of bacteria that are responsible for causing certain infections. The medicine is used for:

• For the treatment of bacterial infections.
• For the treatment of acne.
• For treating of malaria (in certain cases).

 

Dosage:

Dosage of Doxycycline 100 mg tablets varies depending upon the severity of the infection to be treated. General dosage is as follows:

• Initial dosage- 200 mg/day taken orally two times daily.
• Maintenance dosage- 100-200 mg/day taken orally once in every 12 hours.

 

Side effects:

Side effects caused by Doxicip 100 mg tablets do not require any medical help. They disappear on their own once the body gets acclimatized to the medicine. But in certain cases it may cause some serious side effects too such as:

• Allergies such as facial redness, rash, hives
• Diarrhoea
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Headache
• Appetite loss

• The drug interacts with the vaccines and do not let them work properly. Do not take vaccine shots if you are on this medication. If you have been recently vaccinated, inform your doctor.
• Doxycycline 100 mg tablets make your skin sensitive to the sun. Limit your time of exposure to the sun or use sunscreen for protection.
• Consult your doctor about the risk and benefits of the drug if you are pregnant or breastfeeding as the drug is considered to be harmful for foetus and new born baby both.
