Valsartan 80mg, 160mg tablets, also known as Diovan is a type of hypersensitive drug used to treat high blood pressure and heart failures.

Uses

• Lowering blood pressure also helps to prevent future heart attack and stroke. This medicine is also very effective in preserving kidney function in patients with diabetes.
• Diovan tablets can be prescribed either alone or in combination with other medicines by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food depending on your choice. However, try to take it at the same time each day for it to be effective.

Dosage

• Adult Hypertension

When used as a monotherapy, the usual starting dose of Valsartan is 80 mg or 160 mg once daily in patients who are not volume-depleted. Patients who require greater reductions may be started at a higher dose. These tablets may be used over a dose range of 80 to 320 mg daily, administered once a day.

• Pediatric Hypertension

For children that can swallow these tablets, the usual recommended starting dose is mostly up to 40 mg total daily. The dosage should be adjusted according to the blood pressure reports. Doses that are higher than 160 mg once a day have not been studied in pediatric patients from 6 to 16 years old.

• Heart Failure

The recommended starting dose of Valsartan 80mg, 160mg tablets is 40 mg twice daily. The maximum daily dose that has been administered in clinical trials is 320 mg in divided doses.

Precautions

• It is highly unsafe to consume this Valsartan 80mg, 160mg tablets with alcohol or any other drug such as Marijuana as it can make you feel extremely dizzy.
• Diovan is unsafe for the developing baby if taken during pregnancy.
• These tablets should be used with caution by patients with severe kidney disease.
