Cyproterone 2mg + Ethinylestradiol 0.035mg tablets are used as a type of contraceptive drug. It is also available under the brand names Diane and Ginette all over the world.

Uses

  • Diane tablet is a combination of two hormonal medicines: Cyproterone and Ethinylestradiol that are combined to be used for the treatment of symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) such as excessive hair growth, acne and irregular periods.
  • It also works as a contraceptive pill.
  • Ginette can also treat certain severe types of acne in women that haven’t been treated with antibiotics and other treatments.

How does it work?

  • Cyproterone 2mg + Ethinylestradiol 0.035mg tablets can be consumed with or without food. Take it usually at the same time daily.
  • The dose and duration will depend on what you are being treated for, but you should always complete a full course of this medicine is prescribed by your doctor.
  • Diane works by regulating hormones that affect the skin.
  • Do not stop taking the medicine without consulting your doctor first.
  • Do not share it with anyone else, even if they have the symptoms the same as you.

Important warnings

Birth control: This medication should not be used only as a contraceptive pill. Women should use methods of birth control such as condoms while taking this medication.

Blood clots: Diane appears to increase the risk of developing blood clots. This risk may be greater than the risk which occurs with birth control pills. These blood clots may form anywhere in the body and it’s very painful and harmful.

Breast cancer: All women who take this medicine should practice breast self-examination.

Diabetes: Ginette can cause changes in blood sugar levels. If you have diabetes or a family history of diabetes, discuss with your doctor about this medication and its effects on you.

Depression: Hormones, such as Cyproterone and Ethinyl estradiol have been known to cause mood swings and symptoms of depression by professional doctors.

Pregnancy: Cyproterone 2mg + Ethinylestradiol 0.035mg tablets should not be taken by pregnant women as it can cause harm to the baby.
