Acetazolamide 250 mg tablets, also known as Diamox are an antiglaucoma that is helpful in treating increased intracranial pressure.

Uses:

Different uses of Diamox 250 mg are:

  • For the treatment of stress caused due to lower oxygen pressure at high altitude.
  • To reduce headache, dizziness, nausea and shortness of breath.
  • To treat high pressure in the eyes caused due to glaucoma.
  • For the treatment of epilepsy, seizures and edema

 

Dosage:

Dosage of Acetazolamide 250 mg tablets depends on the disease to be treated.

  • Glaucoma- To treat glaucoma 250 mg to 1 g of the drug is given in a day.
  • Epilepsy- To treat seizures, recommended dose is 8 to 30 mg/ kg in divided doses. The high dose range from 375 mg to 1 g daily.
  • Congestive heart failure- Dose ranges from 250 to 375 mg daily.
  • Edema- Dose ranges from 250 mg to 375 mg once in a day
  • Altitude sickness: 500 mg to 1 g daily in divided doses.
