Lisinopril 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg Tablets are Ace Inhibitor agents. They are a synthetic derivative that belongs to the category of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors. Prinivil is the international brand name of this medicine. And in India, these tablets are known by the name of Cipril.

 

Purpose:

Lisinopril 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg Tablets are used to stabilize chronic heart failure with reduced systolic left ventricular function in addition to ACE inhibitors, and diuretics, and optionally cardiac glycosides.

They also treat chronic, stable angina pectoris.

Essential hypertension that also prevents strokes, kidney problems, and heart attacks, is controlled by this medication.

 

Mechanism:

Prinivil reduces the stress on the heart and relaxes the blood vessels so that the heart can pump blood more efficiently, and blood flows smoothly.

 

Dosage:

The recommended treatment of Lisinopril 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg Tablets is as follows:

1.25 mg once daily, for one week

2.5 mg once daily, for another one week

3.75 mg once daily, for another one week

5 mg once daily, for the following month

7.5 mg once daily, for another month

10 mg once daily, maintenance dose.

 

Side effects:

Common side effects of Cipril tablets are headache, lightheadedness, sleepiness, nausea, vomiting, and dry cough.

Serious side effects are fainting, irregular heartbeat, muscle weakness, high potassium blood level, dark urine, yellowing of skin or eyes, severe abdominal pain, and loss of appetite.

If any of the above-mentioned effects persist for long, consult your doctor right away, before the situation worsens.

 

Precautions and measures:

Rise up slowly when you have been sitting or lying down.

Avoid taking potassium supplements during the tenure of Lisinopril 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg Tablets.

If you have had a medical history of swelling of the face, lips, or tongue, angioedema, dialysis, or high level of potassium in the blood, inform your doctor before starting with Cipril tablets.

Include enough fluids in your diet, to avoid dehydration.

Do not use this drug during pregnancy.

Lactating mothers should only consume this drug under the strict guidance of their doctor.

If you are consuming any diet aids, cough and cold products, or NSAIDs, inform your doctor about the same.

Do not consume expired medication of Lisinopril 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg Tablets.

Store the tablets at room temperature.

Do not increase or decrease the dosage at your own ease.

 

Interaction:

Certain drugs that can interact with Cipril and produce negative effects are Everolus, Sirolus, Valsartan, Sacubitril among others.
