Hyoscine Butylbromide 10 mg tablets, also known as Buscopan is an antispasmodic medicine. It relaxes the muscles of gastrointestinal tract and urinary system

Uses:

Buscopan is available in tablets of 10 mg and should not be used without prescription. It is used for various purposes such as:

• For the treatment of pain that occurs due to smooth muscle spasm.
• For the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
• For relieving the muscle cramps of stomach, intestine, bladder and ureter.

 

Dosage:

Hyoscine Butylbromide 10 mg tablets should be taken orally with water. The dosage differs for adults and children.

• Adults- Recommended dose is 2 tablets four times in a day. In case of IBS, recommended dose is of 1 tablet four times in a day which can be increased up to 2 tablets if required.
• Children- For children from 6 to 12 years of age, recommended dose is of 1 tablet three times a day.
• Patients above 65 years of age can also be treated although doctors avoid giving this medicine to them.

 

Side effects:

After taking Buscopan 10 mg very few people suffer from its side effects which include:

• Constipation
• Dry mouth
• Heart rate becomes fast
• Problem in eyes or blurred vision
• Urination problem
• Skin problems such as rash or itching

• Inform your doctor if you have any prostate problem, high blood pressure or had a heart attack.
• Have glaucoma as the drug may put more pressure in your eyes and dilate pupil.
• If you are allergic to Buscopan 10 mg or are on any other medication.
• If you suffer from Down syndrome.
• If your age is less than 12 years and over 65 years.
• If you have weak muscles, a condition known as myasthenia gravis.

 

Storage:

• Keep it in cool (25 degree C) and dry place.
• Avoid contact with direct heat and light.
