Bupropion HCl is a type of antidepressant that helps prevent suicidal thoughts and attempts. One tablet contains 150 mg of Bupropion hydrochloride printed on it with blank edible ink. Inactive ingredients present in the tablet are polyethene glycol, glyceryl behenate, methacrylic acid copolymer dispersion among others. It is available as an immediate-release or extended-release tablet, both taken through the mouth. Bupropion HCl 150mg Tablets are also available by the brand name of Zyban internationally. You may find it as Bupron – SR in India.

 

PURPOSE:

  • It is sometimes used for the prevention of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), it is a type of depression that occurs during the same time of the year.
  • This medication is prescribed to depression patients.
  • It is also helpful in restoring the balance of natural substances of the brain such as norepinephrine and dopamine.
  • People who are having suicidal thoughts are also prescribed this drug.

DOSAGE:

  • Adult dosage of Bupron – SR(18-64yrs) typical starting for a generic immediate-release tablet: 200mg per day; taken as 100mg twice a day.
  • Adult dosage (18-64yrs) typically starts for a generic extended-release tablet: 150mg daily in the morning.
  • Child dosage (0-17yrs): It has not yet been established if this drug is safe and effective for their consumption or not.
  • 65yrs and older: consumption should be done only if prescribed by a doctor by considering all other conditions.

 

SIDE EFFECTS:

  • Mild side effects of consuming Bupropion HCl 150mg Tablets include vomiting, constipation, dry mouth, nausea among others.
  • Panic attacks, eye pain, staring spells, loss of consciousness are some serious side-effects that should not be ignored and be informed and consulted by a doctor immediately.
