Ibuprofen 200mg, 400mg and 600mg tablets is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It is used to relieve pain (caused due to menstrual cramps, headache, arthritis, etc.) and also to reduce fever.

Uses:

Ibuprofen is available as gels, sprays and tablets and in three strengths i.e. 200 mg, 400 mg and 600 mg. It is used for different pain relieving purposes such as

  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Dental pain
  • Swelling or redness
  • Back pain
  • Arthritis
  • Menstrual cramps

Dosage:

Dosage of Brufen depends on the reason as well as age of the person using it.

  1. Adults:

  • For the patients suffering from rheumatoid or osteoarthritis dosage vary from 1200 mg to 3200 mg given orally in differentiated doses.
  • If Brufen is given to reduce painthen
    • 200 mg to 400 mg orally
    • 400 mg to 800 mg into the veins

  1. Children:

    For children syrups and chewable tablets are available. Dosage varies depending on the weight of child.

  • Child is 5.4 kg to 7.7 kg- Infant drops (50 mg/1.25 ml label, give 1.25 ml)
    • Syrup (100 mg/ 5 ml label, give 2.5 ml)
  • Child is 8 to 10 kg- Infant drops (50 mg/1.25 ml label, give 1.875 ml )
    • Syrup (100 mg/ 5 ml label, give 4.0 ml)
  • Child is 10.5 kg to 15.5 kg- Infant drops (50 mg/1.25 ml label, give 1.25 ml )
    • Syrup (100 mg/ 5 ml label, give 5.0 ml)
    • Chewable tablets of 50 mg, give 2 tablets
  • Child is 16 to 21 kg- Infant drops (50 mg/1.25 ml label, give 3.75 ml )
    • Syrup (100 mg/ 5 ml label, give 7.5 ml)
    • Chewable tablets of 50 mg, give 3 tablets
  • Child is 21.5 kg to 26.5 kg- Infant drops (50 mg/1.25 ml label, give 5.0 ml )
    • Syrup (100 mg/ 5 ml label, give 10.0 ml)
    • Chewable tablets of 50 mg, give 4 tablets
    • Junior strength tablets of 100 mg, give 2 tablets

  1. Side effects:

  • Nausea
