Bosentan 62.5mg, 125mg Tablets are pulmonary hypertension pills used in the treatment of high blood pressure in the blood vessels. Bosentan, also known as Tracleer is an orange-white round tablet having a monohydrate present as the main ingredient in it. It is an endothelin receptor antagonist. In India, it is available by the brand name of Bosentas.

 

PURPOSE:

• Bosentan 62.5mg, 125mg Tablets are used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension, in which blood pressure increases in the lungs.
• This tablet blocks the effects of endothelin-1 and lowers the blood pressure in the lungs.
• Reduces the number of digital ulcers.

 

DOSAGE:

• At an initial stage, Bosentan 62.5 mg tablets should be taken twice daily for four weeks for adults.
• Can be increased to 125mg twice daily for adults as per the requirement.
• Dialysis and renal impairment patients require no dosage adjustments.
• It can be taken by dissolving into water and consuming it right away.
• This drug can be absorbed by the skin and lungs, and therefore can be harmful to the baby. Women who are pregnant, lactating, or planning to conceive should not undergo this medication.

SIDE EFFECTS:

• Joint pain is a common side effect of Bosentan 62.5mg, 125mg Tablets. If it persists for long, you should inform your doctor.
• Sperm production might decrease in men which may hamper their ability to father a child. Consult your doctor for authentic details.
• There can be a serious allergic reaction to Tracleer but is extremely rare.
• Blood in cough, fainting, unusual weight gaining is some serious drawbacks of this medication among others.

PRECAUTIONS AND MEASURES:

• If you have had a history of liver disease or anaemia, your doctor should be well-informed about it.
• Bosentas drug causes sleepiness, and hence anything that requires your attention and alertness like driving or using machinery should not be performed just after its consumption.
• Take a liver function blood test before and after the medication.
• It can be taken on an empty stomach or after having food too.
• Do not stop taking the medication of Bosentas unless asked by your doctor, it will only worsen the situation.
• During pregnancy, it should be used only when necessarily needed.

STORAGE:

• Bosentan 62.5mg, 125mg tablets should be stored between 20°C and 25°C of temperature.
• Bosentas tablets should be kept away from moisture, light, and dampness.
• Pets and children should not reach this medication.
• Do not use expired medication.

INTERACTIONS:

HIV protease inhibitors, cyclosporine should not be consumed along with Bosentan as it might lead to some serious conditions or decrease the pace and effect of medication.
