Favipiravir 200mg tablets are known as the first oral antiviral medication for the covid-19 virus.  It is used for the treatment of mild covid-19 symptoms and other viral infections.

The medicine comes under the international brand name of avigan and an Indian brand name of Avigan.

Measures and Precautions

1. Avigan tablets should be taken regularly at the same time every day. The doses should not be missed.
2. The tablets are taken orally through the mouth with or without food. This medication is food-independent.
3. Favipiravir 200mg tablets should be consumed whole without crushing or chewing. while consuming water is taken.
4. For the patients of covid-19, the common dosage of Avigan tablets is 1800mg daily in an oral way. The doses should be taken twice a day on the very first day of consumption.  After this dose of favipiravir 200mg tablets, the following day the patients should be treated with 800mg twice a day for 14 days.
5. Pregnant women should not use the tablets on recommendation also.
6. During the consumption of the pills, strong contraception methods should be used. If pregnancy occurs while treatment, then the consumption of tablets should be stopped immediately.
7. In bacterial infection, these tablets are not recommended for the users.
8. In children’s s case also, the favipiravir 200mg tablets are not recommended. They are fatal for the children.
9. The doctor should first check the patient’s history before prescribing the avigan tablets. For the users with a case of hypersensitivity, the tablets should not be prescribed.
10. The breastfeeding women should not use the Avigan tablets as it can turn fatal for them.
11. The tablets should be prescribed for the users when influenza-like symptoms appear. Unless these symptoms don’t occur, the tablets should not be given to the users.
12. The storage of tablets is done in a cool place.
13. Do not tamper with the tablets before consuming them.

• Allergic Dermatitis
• Asthma
• Miscarriages
• In pregnant ladies, it causes fetal damage

Interactions

The tablets have the following interactions with different drugs:

• Theophylline
• Sulindac
• Famciclovir
• Pyrazinamide
• Repaglinide

All these drugs interact with Avigan tablets to cause different issues in the user’s body. It is advised to assess all these interactions of drugs before the consumption of the tablets.
