Purpose

Atorvastatin 5mg, 10mg, 20mg, 40mg, 80mg tablets come under the international brand name of Lipitor. The tablets belong to the group of statin hypolipidemic medicine.  It is used to treat the problems of cholesterol in the body. An Atorlip 10mg tablet contains Atorvastatinas a primary ingredient which helps in

  • Treating the cholesterol problems like reducing the absorption of “bad cholesterol” in the patients or consumers.
  • Helps in the prevention of stroke in people suffering from heart diseases
  • Treating the conditions of high cholesterol levels (hypercholesterolemia) andhypertrigylcerides (known as excess triglycerides). Triglycerides are the end products of fat breakdowns in our body.

 

Dosages

How does it work?

The medicine works by binding with an enzyme known as HMG-CoA synthase that helps in producing cholesterol. The active ingredient in the Lipitor tablets calledatorvastatin inhibits the action of this enzyme and thus, decreases the production of “bad” cholesterol in the body.

 

Measures and Precautions

  1. TheAtorlip tabletsshould be taken once a day. The starting dose should be less to observe any allergic reaction happening in the patient’s body.
  2. The adjustments should be made in doses every 4 weeks for the proper functioning of the body.
  3. Patients suffering from HIV should avoid using Atorlip 10mg tablets as they are lethal to them.
  4. Pregnant women and breastfeeding women should not take these tablets as they are harmful to the young ones.
  5. The consumption of alcohol is prohibited for the users of Atorvastatin 5mg, 10mg, 20mg, 40mg, 80mg tablets as they can make the consumer dizzy while driving.
  6. The medication should be taken as directed by the concerned doctor. Do not decrease or increase the doses without consultation from the doctor.
  7. If the dose of Atorlip 10mg is missed, it should be compensated within 12 hours of the missed dose.
