Lenograstim 263 mcg (33.6 MIU) Injection
Lenograstim 263 mcg (33.6 MIU) Injection is a hematopoietic growth factor that induces proper growth in precursors of white blood cells in the bone marrow.
It is a glycosylated recombinant granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(G-CSF), one of the myeloid growth factors, available for clinical use.
Initially, it was derived from human cells but now as a recombinant, it is derived from the bacterial culture of E.coli.
Mechanism of action: G-CSF is a biological molecule that acts by inducing proliferation and differentiation of precursors of the neutrophil resulting in their normal growth. It also acts by activating the phagocytic property of mature neutrophils and prolongs their survival in the circulation. It also increases their concentration of stem cells in peripheral blood.
It is available as Granocyte34 in International and as Granocyte in Indian markets.

1. What is Granocyte?
Granocyte is an anti-cancer supportive-care medicine containing lenograstim 263 mcg (33.6 MIU). Lenograstim is a recombinant granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) that stimulates the bone marrow to produce neutrophils and supports recovery of white blood cell counts.
2. What is Granocyte used for?
Granocyte is used to help reduce the duration of neutropenia associated with cancer chemotherapy and to support hematopoietic recovery in appropriate patients. Lenograstim may also be used for peripheral blood stem-cell mobilization and following bone marrow or stem-cell transplantation, depending on the approved indication.
3. How does Granocyte work?
Granocyte contains lenograstim, which acts on G-CSF receptors and stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of neutrophil precursor cells in the bone marrow. This increases the production of mature neutrophils that help the body fight infections.
4. What strength of Granocyte is available?
Lotus International lists Lenograstim 263 mcg (33.6 MIU) Injection, corresponding to Granocyte 34. Official product information describes Granocyte 34 as a powder and solvent for injection or infusion. Availability and packaging can vary according to the destination market and applicable regulatory requirements.
5. How is Granocyte administered?
Granocyte is supplied as a powder requiring reconstitution before administration. Depending on the clinical indication, it may be administered by subcutaneous injection or intravenous infusion by qualified healthcare professionals. The dose and treatment duration are determined by the treating physician based on the patient’s condition and treatment protocol.
