Purpose

Abiraterone acetate 250mg tablets are used for the treatment of prostate cancer.  It comes under the brand name of zytiga in the market.   The tablets control the growth of cancer cells in other parts of the body. Hence, controls the further growth of cancer cells.

How does it work?

Abiraterone acetate 250mg tablets is a prescription medicine that is used with prednisone. The medication is useful in controlling prostate cancer in men. Zytiga tablets interrupt the androgen-making process and inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells.  The tumor cells also get affected by the administration of zytiga tablets.

Measures and precautions

1. Abiraterone acetate 250mg tablets should be consumed in the prescribed dose given by the concerned doctor. The dose should not be lowered or increased without the doctor’s permission.
2. Do not crush or break the zytiga tablets for consumption. Do swallow the tablets with water only.
3. The recommended dose of this tablet is 1000mg taken four times a day as instructed by the doctor.
4. It is advised to consume the abiraterone acetate 250mg tablets at the fixed time only.
5. The use of alcohol should be prohibited with the consumption of these tablets.
6. The tablets should not be consumed on an empty stomach. It is food-dependent medicine.
7. When taken with food, it reduces the chances of side-effects. The dose purely depends on the conditions of the patients.
8. Do not overdose on the medicine as it causes side-effects in the patients.
9. Do not stop suddenly the usage of these tablets as it can cause serious withdrawal syndromes.
10. The tablets are safe to take with kidney problems. There is no harm in that.
11. It is advised not to drive when taken the tablets. It can blurry their vision and cause an accident.
12. Extra care should be taken by patients with liver problems during the consumption of these tablets.
13. Always use the tablets with prednisolone to reduce the side-effects.

Storage

The medicine is kept in a cool place at room temperature.  It should not be kept in direct sunlight.
