Tygacil
Drug Name: Tigecycline 50mg Injection
Details
Tigecycline 50mg Injection is an antibacterial belonging to the group tetracyclines.
It is a semisynthetic derivative of minocycline and has broad spectrum bacteriostatic properties.
It is the first glycylcycline available for clinical use that is effective against organisms resistant to older tetracyclines and other antibacterials.
Mechanism of action:it acts by entering the bacterial cell by both passive and active transport. Inside the cell it binds to a bacterial ribosome blocking the RNA-ribosome complex preventing the protein synthesis leading to non functional bacterial cell and death of the cell.
It is available as Tygacil in both International and Indian markets.
Uses
